Golden Retriever

aka The Goldenaka Goldieaka The Retriever
"Bred by a lord to retrieve birds — ended up retrieving hearts instead."
Loyal. Joyful. Golden to the core.

The Story Behind the Breed

The Golden Retriever was first bred in 1868 by Lord Tweedmouth at his estate in the Scottish Highlands. He spent 20 years perfecting the breed by crossing a Yellow Retriever with the now-extinct Tweed Water Spaniel. The result was a dog built for work but designed for love. The Golden Retriever is the third most popular dog breed in America and the number one therapy dog breed on earth. There is not a single recorded instance of a Golden Retriever not making someone's day better.

"Loyal. Joyful. Golden to the core."
