Miniature Poodle
The Story Behind the Breed
The Miniature Poodle was bred down from the Standard Poodle in France during the 1400s. The name comes from the German word 'pudel' — meaning to splash in water. The elaborate clip wasn't vanity. Hunters shaved the coat to help the dog swim faster while leaving puffs of fur over the joints and organs for warmth. The Miniature Poodle is the second most intelligent dog breed on earth, behind only the Border Collie. They learn faster than most people.
"Brilliant. Elegant. Endlessly devoted."
