The Story Behind the Breed

The Chow Chow is one of the oldest dog breeds on earth, with genetic evidence tracing ancestry back approximately 8,300 years. A Tang Dynasty emperor kept 5,000 in his imperial kennel. The blue-black tongue marks them as something set apart. They have been imperial for longer than most civilizations have existed.
